AFL GameDay Squad Round 6 Review – Key Takeaways

The AFL GameDay Squad Round 6 Review is here, join us as we break down the top  fantasy stars, the biggest disappointments, and the PODs that turned the round on its head

We’ll also look at how the Blokes on the Ball coaches performed across all divisions, to see who was this weeks dunce.

Let’s get stuck into the AFL GameDay Squad Round 6 Review and see who dominated, who disappointed, and who was the ultimate point-of-difference hero!

Top 3 Players of AFL GameDay Squad Round 6

Lachie Whitfeild

These three players delivered massive scores and rewarded coaches who backed them in:

1.     Lachie Whitfield 170 – Lachie went off with 39 disposals with 27 kicks and 10 marks.

2.     Nick Daicos 156 – Nick is in some crazy form and handling opposition attention like the superstar he is 38 disposals, 21 being kicks and 6 marks.

3.     Marcus Bontempelli 137 – First game back for the Bont after missing the first 5 rounds of the year and he showed no signs of being out of touch. He collected 30 disposals kicked 2 goals and took 5 marks.

3 Biggest Disappointments of the Round

Sam Flanders

Not every player lived up to expectations. These three underwhelmed fantasy coaches and left many scrambling for points:

1.     Sam Flanders 66 – This bloke has a terrible fantasy role atm for gold coast. Didn’t look like he was even going to get to 50 at one stage 13 disposals and a goal.

2.     Daniel Rioli 50 – This bloke has the role and can’t score! Back-to-back flop scores, 11 disposals and struggled to find the ball in a good matchup under the roof of marvel. (hope they drop him and let Flanders go back to half back)

3.     Toby Greene 55 – Hogan being out may have had an effect on Greene’s scoring output as he had more attention than usual. 13 disposals and no goals poor game of his standards

3 PODs That Won Round 6

GameDay Squad is all about finding the right PODs at the right time. These three under-the-radar picks delivered huge scores and gave savvy coaches a massive edge:

Vlaustin

1.     Nick Vlastuin 157 – Huge game for Vlastuin 27 disposals, 24 being kicks and 13 marks would have been the pod pick of the round.

2.     Kozzy Pickett 145 – Pickett playing a similar role to Rankine and putting up good numbers, 24 disposals and kicking 5 goals to reward anyone who backed him in.

3.     Peter Wright 144– This was also Peter Wrights first game for the year and he kicked 6 goals and took 7 marks to start his fantasy year with a bang.

BOBS Coaches Round 6 Results

How did Blokes on the Ball’s squads perform in Round 6? Here’s where we finished across all divisions:

The Goal Practitioner

·       Starter – 2286 and ranked 162nd

·       Classic – 2499 and ranked 68th

·       Challenger – 3140 and ranked 10th

·       Champion – 3253 and ranked 15th

Summary:

What a week – this was a painful weekend for my GDS teams. Watching Flanders decide getting the ball was optional then Darcy hurting his knee in the first quarter! Sunk all 4 of my teams to my worst finish for the year in every comp. Will Hopefully rebound this week much like my Port boys did knocking off Sydney. The pear are back!!

Cash Money

·       Starter – 2281 and ranked 172nd

·       Classic – 2437 and ranked 99th

·       Challenger – 3014 and ranked 26th

·       Champion – 3153 and ranked 22nd

Summary:

Started the round by fading Nick Daicos and finished the round by playing Dylan Moore. A round to forgot after also playing Josh Treacy, Sam Walsh, Sam Flanders and Toby Greene. The positive of the round is I won’t be playing any of them again as I will be adding them to my never again list. Anyway, onto next week where I will no doubt play more shit players hahaha.

Beast Mode

·       Starter – 2476 and Ranked 3rd

·       Classic – 2503 and Ranked 63rd

·       Challenger – 3167 and Ranked 6th

·       Champion – 3102 and ranked 28th

Summary:

Another solid week overall. Starter being my best result thanks to Pickett who was awesome. Bittersweet result in challenger as I had Mathew Kennedy locked in my side all week until a last-minute change to Sam Darcy which cost me. Hoping my Share of injuries is done now after hitting McKay and Darcy. On to next week!
