AFL GameDay Squad Round 12 Review – Key Takeaways

The AFL GameDay Squad Round 12 Review is here, join us as we break down the top fantasy stars, the biggest disappointments, and the PODs that turned the round on its head

We’ll also look at how the Blokes on the Ball coaches performed across all divisions, to see who this week’s dunce was.

Let’s get stuck into the AFL GameDay Squad Round 12 Review and see who dominated, who disappointed, and who was the ultimate point-of-difference hero!

Top 3 Players of AFL GameDay Squad Round 12

gryan miers

These three players delivered massive scores and rewarded coaches who backed them in:

1.     Bailey Smith 175 – The man can’t be stopped, Smith put west coast to the sword collecting 38 disposals kicked a goal and had 7 marks and 4 tackles

2.     Gryan Miers 161 – Miers has had a roller-coaster year of good and bad scores but this week he had his best for the year. Kicking 2 goals and getting 26 disposals to go with his 13 marks.

3.     Nick Daicos 147 – Back to the usual Nick Daicos just running around doing what he wants with no attention (very shit thing to watch if you have faded expecting a hard tag). 32 disposals 7 marks and 6 tackles with a goal.

3 Biggest Disappointments of the Round

jesse hogan

Not every player lived up to expectations. These three underwhelmed fantasy coaches and left many scrambling for points:

1.     Jesse Hogan 42 – This is where my round finished in all my competitions and was a very hard watch as I also had Toby Greene who just missed out being a dud this week. 8 disposals and 4 marks against Richmond with no goals is crazy.

2.     Kossy Pickett 53 – whenever I play this bloke he sucks ha-ha. 12 disposals 1 mark and 3 tackles.

3.     Andy Mcgrath 45 – Definitely a very POD play but had put up some decent scores the last couple weeks but this week proves why you can’t trust his scoring or role. 15 disposals 1 mark and tackle.

3 PODs That Won Round 12

GameDay Squad is all about finding the right PODs at the right time. These three under-the-radar picks delivered huge scores and gave savvy coaches a massive edge:

huggh mcclucgae

1.     Hugh McCluggage 171 – He will always be a POD selection at Brisbane because of there stacked midfield. Hugh went huge collecting 41 disposals taking 11 marks and 4 tackles.

2.     Steele Sidebottom 150 – Aging like a fine wine Sidebottom keeps putting up numbers like he used to in his prime. 32 disposals 7 marks and 5 tackles

3.     Callum Wilkie 153 – One of the most underrated defenders in the competition and every now and then Wilkie pops off with massive fantasy scores. 31 disposals to go with his 15 marks.

Missed Martin on some teams early which was not the best start. Went ok until hogan cost me more points. Tired to play catch up switching Salem in for Holmes. Overall, a disappointing round!
