One of the great things about GameDay Squad is the ability to play in various competitions and win serious cash prizes. With over $200K up for grabs between NRL and AFL in 2025, the stakes are high.
Today I will cover how I play the GameDay Squaf Fantasy Stock Trader game to profit and help build my Fantasy teams.
My expertise is mainly in AFL, rather than NRL, cricket, or basketball. However, the principles I discuss in this article apply to all sports to some degree.
AFL, in particular, presents a unique market opportunity. Unlike other sports with international competition appeal or competing formats (ODI, T20 or International leagues), AFL's player base remains locked in, allowing you to leverage your knowledge and trade the market like FIFA or Madden Ultimate Team.

Fantasy Stock Trader Phases in GameDay Squad
I see the GameDay Squad season as having several distinct phases where opportunities arise to buy players at exceptional value.
1. Preseason Stock Trading
The preseason is all about speculation—how people perceive players and what their fantasy thesis is for the upcoming season.
Just like in AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach, opinions on players vary wildly, often influenced by bias and previous-season performances. Players who finished strong in 2024 will naturally be overvalued, while others are overlooked. This is where Fantasy Stock Trader early bargains can be found.
To identify undervalued players, consider:
Who will have key roles?
Who is the designated kicker? Who will take kick-ins? (Crucial for defenders under the 2025 point system.)
Who are the top 1-2 midfielders at each club? These are the consistent scorers in GameDay Squad.
Who is changing roles? A new key mid or primary kicker could become a must-have.
Who has left or switched clubs? What opportunities does this create?
Who is the undisputed #1 ruck? (Avoid players in shared ruck setups.)

By answering these questions, you can identify undervalued players early.
For example, in 2024:
Sam Flanders was undervalued in the preseason due to role uncertainty, but savvy coaches bought his cards cheap. By midseason, his Diamond cards were worth $200+ as he became a must-play forward.
On the flip side, if you invested in Bailey Smith (before his ACL injury), you likely struggled. However, now that he's healthy and a key mid at Geelong (with fwd status), he presents a major 2025 trading opportunity.
Many traders are banking on Lloyd Meek to emerge as Hawthorn’s solo ruck in 2025.
2. In-Season Trading – Capitalizing on Trends
The market is highly reactive during the season, creating massive trading opportunities.
When a player breaks into the top of their position group, their value skyrockets.
Case Study: Isaac Heeney (2024)
In 2023, Heeney was a mediocre forward with better alternatives like Zac Butters, Connor Rozee, Errol Gulden, Dunkley, and Sheezel.
In 2024, Heeney shifted to midfield (while retaining forward status), exploding in value and becoming the best forward of 2025.
Traders who bought his cards early saw profits of 9,000%+—even Warren Buffett would be impressed!
Other Mid-Season Risers
Tristan Xerri (2024) was challenging Max Gawn and Rowan Marshall as a top ruck option. Yet, midseason, his cards were selling for just $30—even when he was outperforming expectations.
James Peatling, Phillipou, and Nic Martin also saw huge midseason rises in 2024.
Key Takeaway: Identify midseason breakout trends early—especially among emerging top-tier players—and capitalize before the market reacts.

3. Postseason Trading – Hidden Opportunities
Though it seems far off, postseason trading offers massive value opportunities before the next season’s positions are finalized.
Key Factors to Watch:
Who has been traded? What is their new role? and what role have they opened for someone else
Which players will gain positional eligibility in 2026?
The forward line is often where previously irrelevant players become must-plays.
Potential 2025 Breakout Stars
Players like Mason Wood, Brent Daniels, Matthew Kennedy, and Alex Neal-Bullen were mostly ignored in 2024 but will be essential bye-round or even full time plays in 2025.
Final Thoughts – How to Win the GameDay Squad Stock Market
The key to success in Fantasy Stock Trader for GameDay Squad is identifying trends early—whether it’s:✅ Preseason speculation✅ In-season breakouts✅ Postseason role shifts
Watch for positional changes, retirements, and role switches that open up opportunities. Then, buy the right cards early to play or profit from them.
Good Luck in 2025—Stay Ahead of the Trends!
Cheers,
