AFL GameDay Squad Round 9 Review – Key Takeaways

The AFL GameDay Squad Round 9 Review is here, join us as we break down the top  fantasy stars, the biggest disappointments, and the PODs that turned the round on its head

We’ll also look at how the Blokes on the Ball coaches performed across all divisions, to see who was this weeks dunce.

Let’s get stuck into the AFL GameDay Squad Round 9 Review and see who dominated, who disappointed, and who was the ultimate point-of-difference hero!

Top 3 Players of AFL GameDay Squad Round 9

Bailey smith

These three players delivered massive scores and rewarded coaches who backed them in:

1.     Bailey Smith 172 – Smith took full advantage of no Bedford collecting 35 disposals, taking 8 marks and laying a ridiculous 10 tackles.

2.     Dayne Zorko 168 – Zorko loves a Sunday afternoon points fest collecting 39 disposals and having 29 kicks and taking 8 marks.

3.     Nic Martin 166 – 100% TOG for martin and with his random role of starting at half forward and moving wherever he wants to worked well this week. Collecting 38 disposals including 22 kicks and having 8 marks and 5 tackles.

3 Biggest Disappointments of the Round

clayton oliver

Not every player lived up to expectations. These three underwhelmed fantasy coaches and left many scrambling for points:

1.     Clayton Oliver 48 – Anyone who backing in Oliver would have hated watching him in his role change as a tagger with Viney out. There are a couple prize card Oliver owners out there would just wish he could go back to his elite fantasy form, but I think those days are over. 13 disposals and 4 tackles.

2.     Dan Houston 59 – Trade hangover, is that a thing?  Since moving to Collingwood Houston has forgot how to football and another player we can’t trust anymore and has a prize card out there somewhere. 12 disposals with 3 marks and tackles.

3.     Lachie Neale 70 – Strangely quiet game but he has these types of games throughout the year. 17 disposals to go with 5 tackles.

3 PODs That Won Round 9

GameDay Squad is all about finding the right PODs at the right time. These three under-the-radar picks delivered huge scores and gave savvy coaches a massive edge:

jesse Hogan

1.     Jesse Hogan 161 – Not many would have played hogan vs Geelong as its not a good match up. Whoever backed him in got rewarded with 7 goals, 9 marks and collecting 22 disposals

2.     Tom Green 153 – Green went massive in game 100 with 37 disposals kicking 1 goal and taking 7 marks.

3.     Ed Richards 152 – Playing in Darwin didn’t seem to bother Richards collecting 31 disposals taking 8 marks and kicking 1 goal.

BOBS Coaches Round 9 Results

How did Blokes on the Ball’s squads perform in Round 9? Here’s where we finished across all divisions:

The Goal Practitioner

·       Starter – 2364 points and ranked 337th

·       Classic – 2706 points and ranked 72nd

·       Challenger – 3327 points and ranked 20th

·       Champion – 3590 points and ranked 14th

Summary:

The big boys I played this week mostly all failed and it was super tough to watch. Anyway here is to a better week this week with some amazing match ups.

Cash Money

·       Starter – 2533 points and ranked 107th

·       Classic – 2730 points and ranked 61st

·       Challenger – 3414 points and ranked 6th

·       Champion – 3780 points and ranked 2nd

Summary:

Good week for me in the top competitions after fading Dawson and Daicos in open and playing Nic Martin in all my comps gave me a good start to put up some good scores. My disappointment of the round was Caleb Daniel and Jy Simpkin, both in a form slump and will likely not be played this week.

Highlight of the week though - not only did I come second - the $50 unique pack I received as part of my reward contained 1/1 Legend Nick Daicos. Its all Gravy from here.

Beast Mode

·       Starter – 2499 points and ranked 165th

·       Classic – 2835 points and ranked 6th

·       Challenger – 3403 points and ranked 7th

·       Champion – 3508 points and ranked 24th

Summary:

Another week of good form but just not good enough which is starting to get annoying. Made a few good calls in most teams but I have been keen on Luke Parker the last few weeks and decided to play Daniel over him in challenger which would have given me a crack at the top 3. Anyway, onto next week.
